1) What is AVAPE?

Founded in 1982, AVAPE – The Association for Valuing Persons with Disabilities is a charitable philanthropic and social assistance institution which cares for people with all kinds of disabilities, with a complete range of service which goes beyond clinical aspects to involve the development of the conditions required for professional rehabilitation and training.

It currently offers 7 million appointments a year, and was the first entity in its field to be certified to ISO 9001.

To promote the abilities of disabled persons, to ensure their autonomy, safety and dignity for exercising their citizenship.

2) What is the FENAVAPE?

The FENAVAPE – The National Federation of the AVAPES was founded in March of 2007, the year in which AVAPE marked up 25 years of work in favor of the disabled. The aim was to be an entity focused on collaborating in defining domestic policies, in addition to negotiating with government authorities and the private sector the means for social inclusion and the right of disabled persons in Brazil to citizenship.

 


3) What is the IDB/Fumin?

The IDB – The Interamerican Development Bank is the principal source of multilateral financing in 26 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, having been established in 1959 to support the economic and social development process in the region.
The IDB grants loans and undertakes technical cooperation agreements. It raises funds on the international market at favorable market rates, so that it can lend funds at competitive costs. To do this the IDB can structure loans with competitive interest rates for its clients in the borrowing countries.
In addition, the IDB offers solutions for development problems by operating together with governments, companies and civil society organizations to reach its clients, who include central governments, local authorities and companies.
The Bank also offers research, advisory and technical assistance for supporting vital areas like education, poverty reduction and agriculture, seeking to take on a leadership role in transnational matters like trade, infrastructure and energy.
The IDB Group comprises the Interamerican Development Bank, the International Investment Corporation and the Multilateral Investment Fund (Fumin). The IIC concentrates on financing small and mid-size companies, while the Fumin fosters private sector growth through investments and technical cooperation transactions, with an emphasis on micro companies.

The theme chosen for the Third Edition of the AVAPE International Congress on Rehabilitation and Inclusion is “Social Entrepreneurship: Integrations, Innovations and Solutions". With this theme, the event aims to bring presentations based on the experiences and practices of social enterprises, private initiative and the public sector, as well as the trends and probable solutions for important themes on the current global macroeconomic and social scenario.

The AVAPE International Congress on Rehabilitation and Inclusion takes place from November 23 to 25, 2009, from 8h00 to 18h30, as shown in the following schedule:

10) What is the deadline for signing up?

You can enroll for the III AVAPE International Congress up to November 15, 2009 or while places are available. Remember that in the case of the Forum on Diversity and Inclusion in Latin America, on November 23, 200 places are available. For the International Encounter – Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Inclusion, on November 24 and 25, 500 places will be available on each day. And for the XII AVAPE Scientific Day, on November 25, enrollment has closed.

 

 


11) Is there a limit on the number of participants in the AVAPE International Congress?

Yes. In the case of the Forum on Diversity and Inclusion in Latin America, on November 23, 200 places are available. For the International Encounter – Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Inclusion, on November 24 and 25, 500 places will be available on each day. And for the XII AVAPE Scientific Day, on November 25, enrollment has closed.

13) I want to attend a lecture, do I have to sign up?

Yes. However, we recommend that participants attend their entire chosen schedule, not just a lecture or other event; as places are limited, others might find themselves left out of the event.

15) I completed the form and forwarded my registration form for the event. Should I print out proof of enrollment?

All participants will receive proof of enrollment at the time they send their registration forms, which will be sent to their registered address and e-mail. It’s important to check all data, especially the registration format chosen.

No. The certificate of participation will only be issued to participants who attend the full program of the event and the workshops.

18) What do I do to present my scientific work?

The presentation of scientific working panels is an exclusive space for AVAPE professionals  for presentation of the entire medical and scientific content developed and organized at the institution during the year.

 

 

19) Will the content of the presentations be available on the site?

21) Where is the Renaissance Hotel located?

The Renaissance Hotel is located at 2233 Alameda Santos in São Paulo. It is located in the heart of the Jardins district, some 35 km (50 minutes) from Guarulhos International Airport (Aeroporto Internacional de Guarulhos) and 15 km (25 minutes) from Congonhas International Airport (Aeroporto Internacional de Congonhas). There is a series of gastronomic options in the region where the III AVAPE International Congress is being held. For starters, there is the Jardins Terrace Restaurant located in the Renaissance Hotel.

For periods exceeding 09 hours, R$ 3,00 an hour for the excess period will be added to the parking fee. The minimum fee to be invoiced is R$ 30,00.
